blueshirt
Hi all...I am looking to relocate from USAto France (Paris)in a year or so. I recently married a French citizen. We might be looking intoopening a business but at the very least I will need to work. I'm not sure ifthe process is different for me (us) then if I were just an American looking torelocate on my own.I contacted the French embassy and all I was told was to make an appointment tosee them, which I did. I want to make sure I know what I'm asking for before Iget there. We are looking to relocate there 'permanently'. I'm not sure if along-stay visa will work for that or if there are other actions I need to doonce I am there. Don’t know if this makes any difference but we were married inParis and ourmarriage is registered there. Thanks for any help.
Anton Redman
Have a look at the attached links. First is French Embassy in USA. Second is Americans in Toulouse both worth a read for anybody planning to move from North America http://www.ambafrance-us.org/visitingfrance/ http://www.americansintoulouse.com/
blueshirt
Thanks....Looks like all I need is the application, my passport, Livret de Familleand French National Identification Card ofmy French spouse. Also looks like I apply for a residency card at thePréfecture upon arrival in France. Not sure of anything beyond that. Like would I have to renew my visa every yearor so? Do the French have an equivalent to a Green Card where I would besomething close to a citizen or would I have to denounce my USA citizenship?Hopefully the Embassy can answer those questions. And hopefully opening a business with a French spouse might be a bit easierthen some of the stories I have read.
