shimble
if you are planning to live in the country you are going to find it very difficult to find clients that will be interested in your service if you are planning on living in a town you may well find clients but there will also be established beauty salons that have their clientbase already do not expect to be able to earn a living from this you may find it possible to find a job in an established salon if you are prepared to live in a town and are able to speak and intergrate with the french if you decide to work on the black you may well find some clients mainly english if you do not intergrate this may cause you problems at a later date with the impot and urssaf etc if you decide to start a legitimate business you will need a stable clientbase willing to spend a reasonable amount of money in order for youto be ableto pay your charges you may well earn some money doing this but it will not be easy
Rob Roy
Beauty salons seem to be very popular here. Perhaps you could freelance working for several on a self-employed basis that would help to bring in some income while you build up your own client base, especially if you can offer a treatment they do not have themselves at present. LezaH
Thanks Mary, that seems like a good idea. I will look into what they have to offer and see if i do anything different. (Love your site, just had a peek) Lezah[:)]
Cassis
Mary's seems like a good idea. There will be the question of registering yourself as a business first, if you are going to freelance. In Alençon there are nail bars, cosmeticians and all sorts of other specialists who seem to do very well - and Alençon is only a medium-sized town of about 30,000. And most villages hereabouts have at least one hairdresser - they seem to be at least as essential as a baker or a bar. If you get registered you might be able to offer additional services once a week at a number of hairdressers?
