angie
In england I am a childminder and qualified nursery nurse. Will my NNEB qualification be excepted as a childcare qualification in France? What opportunities are there for working in childcare in France possibly in the Dordogne region. thanks

I suspect that you need some French medical qualifications (however "low-level") and training. But remember that I am only a customer, not a carer! Suze01
I am a registered childminder here - Assistante Maternelle Agréee. Although your NNEB isn't directly transferable it is very straightforward to become registered. Lots of forms to fill in, a few home visits, a simple medical certificate from the doctor saying you are fit, and day long seminar and then the whole dossier goes off for approval. You can receive your agrement for up to 3 children - but at any one time, so in effect you can have more than 3 on your books as long as you don't exceed 3 at any one time. You could also work in a creche with this agrement.
angie
thankyou that sounds useful although I am not sure I want to continue childminding. I think I would rather work in a nursery or creche. What are French nurseries like? are there any catering for english children?
Suze01
Creches are few and far between and places are hard to get. The (English) boy I childmind goes to a local creche also on some days. There aren't AFAIK any that are especially for English kids.
