Cost of hiring an accompanying interpreter for a day

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone had any experience or knowledge of the market rate for an English-speaking visitor to France who wishes to hire a bilingual person on a per-day basis to accompany them on visits to tourist and historical sites and serve as a general guide and translator. Any experience, personal or otherwise, in this area would be very useful. I want to get a feel for what is an acceptable rate to expect to pay for this kind of service.
