Will
To be perfectly honest I think your chances of getting employment without good French are prettty slim, the only chance being with a garage aimed at English speaking customers (there are a few in the 'English ghettoes' if that's where you want to go). Your own business is a possibility, though you would need bilingual professional advice (i.e. accountant) to set it up and run it, as there is a lot of paperwork to deal with. Bones
I know an english mechanic over here, but he speaks French.Remember that you'll spend half the day on the phone ordering parts etc. Not only will you need to speak fluent French, you'll have to speak fluent technical French! There are resources on the internet for car part translations: try googling it.I don't see why you can't get a job spraying cars or helping out at a garage to start - just pick the right area of France first: go with the work. Once your French is up to scratch and you've got your head around the business side of things you can go it alone.Good luck mate!
Patf
We know a british motor mechanic who found work with a french employer. But he's on the basic wage - ?8,25 euros per hour, 35 hour week. Pat.
Bones
Crikey! My mechanic mate charges about 35 an hour: and that's cheap...Then again he has to pay all the charges as it's his own business. [:(]
