jane-sw
My partner is planning on starting a microbic, does he need a French national insurance number to begin registering?
Nick Trollope
It's a social security number, and the process of registering will cause one to be issued to him. So, no!
jane-sw
Thankyou, thats what we thought. Will the rest of the family get a social security number this way?
Sigognac
Hello, yes, assuming you are married or pacsés and living at the same address.
jane-sw
Hi,thanks for the information. How about if we are co-habiting, but our children belong to both of us (sorry, couldn't think of a more articulate way of putting it).
Nick Trollope
Assuming that you are both of you are their parents (not children from previous relationships) and only 1 of you is working (and they are under 16? - or 18?), then you will only get 1 SS number, which will "cover" all of you - in his name. You will get 2 Carte Vitales (assuming he does more than 60 hours/month), you will get a choice of whose card carries the kids.
hoverfrog
I am registered as a travailleur independente (MicroBNC) and don't do more than 60 hours a month, yet I was able to add my then other half (union libre) as a dependent. I can also add my 23-yr old daughter. They get their own carte vitale, and all of us are listed on both cards (i.e. doesn't matter whose card is used at the Dr or pharmacy for any of us) and they use my SS number on both cards. Costs more in cotisations, of course!!
jane-sw
Thanks for the info, all the children are under 16, so hopefully we will all be included.
