Gastines
A bit of a loose topic but I am throwing myself on the mercy of Forum members who might be able to offer advice, apart from"Don't do it".,although that may well be the sensible option.WE are retired but need a challenge/project. Up untill a few years ago we always had at least two things on the go,sometimes three. For example,Renovating house in UK,same in Brittany plus Antique, junk demolition materials etc., shop in UK. When we came here on a permanrnt basis 5= years ago we did think that we would still be able to pursue the Antique/collectables from here to UK but that market seems to have died a very quick death. We have a daughter in UK ,late 30's who has always been in catering, training at a very up-market hotel on the French/Swiss border, she speaks fairly good French. We are thinking/toying with the idea of buying something here,in France but not nesessarily Brittany, where we could set her up with a business/income/home for her and granddaughter, plus originally with accomodation for us. We are both able to work and I have a fairly competent knowledge and hands on,of building /renovations/redecorations. We did think of moving back to UK to achieve this but having returned fairly regularly to our area on the south coast, we have noticed a drastic decline in almost every area, plus the obvious that our few bob will go further here. We definitely would not buy just, fonds de commerce, but prefer to look at something with a bit of scope and are not only looking at catering.Any ideas/thoughts?Regards. val douest
I've just been looking at www.leboncoin.fr for something quite different, but the commercial property section has lots of stuff on offer from hairdressers to upmarket restaurants. It will also give you a good idea how prices compare from region to region.Good luck!Val
