Suninfrance
Not so much earning a living, but can anyone help me / does anyone / has anyone started an Association?I would like to try and open a charity shop with the proceeds going to one of our local vets to get stray and abandoned cats neutered at a discount. I don't want to make any money from it (although that would be nice), but there are so many un-neutered mogs around here it would be good to try and get the kitty population down a little. A friend who has 14 cats, seems to find unwanted kittens dumped on her doorstep occasionally. People seem to think that because she has so many herself, she won't mind a few more, but although she is happy to feed the ones she has, she finds it very expensive to get them neutered. She does try to find homes for them, but certain times of year there are so many unwanted and abandoned kittens around it's almost impossible. Anyway - does anyone know how to go about starting such an Association. I've heard that if the proceeds go purely to a charity, then no taxes are charged, but I need to know whether money can be taken from any proceeds to go towards rent, heating, lighting, etc and whether any grants are available to get the Association started.Jan

Anton Redman
Suggest you Email or 'phone Pheonix and have a talk to them. PS much as I love Rolly and Squeeks AKA - NBC and BC if I find out who threw them unweaned into our garden there will be blood on the tracks and it won't be mine or the cats. Neither of them are pedigree perfect Rolly has a white blaise and Squeeks has a cast to his right leg and a slight ginger tinge which is why I suspect they were dumped. Suninfrance
Doesn't it just make you mad Anton. When we lost our Davy (beautiful cat in my profile pic) we posted pictures and leaflets all over the place. Two days later a ginger & white cat appeared on our doorstep with a broken leg. We still can't get near him, but his leg had healed badly, but he seems to be fit and well and I am feeding him although I can't get near him.Clair - thanks for the links, but the other problem I have in starting an Association, is I am still learning French. I will definately need a fluent French speaker to come to the Mairie with me to help me find out more info and set it up.Jan
P-D de Rouffignac
I did an article about starting an association in French Property News a few months ago. If you'd like to send me an email I will send you a copy as an attachment in Word. The procedure is relatively simple but statutes etc have obviously got to be in French.
