mchphoto
I need a flat rewired 1 bedroom, and was wondering how much it is going to cost, I would need the walls to be channeled out and all switches and sockets etc to be replaced with new, there is only the metal conduits in the walls.Do the electricans (registered) ,quote on a job rate or by the day, if so how much I have heard figures quoted for day rate from 160 to 300 euros for a registered electrican, so what is the typical rate that I can exepct to be charged (I know parts are extras, as I have not decioded upon what style yet I want) just looking for an idea of labour costs and NOT interested in undeclared workers ratesthanks
mint
Just had a devis which is still current. The labour charge is €150 and I expect the work to take perhaps just under half a day. He is fully registered to work in France though is not registered for TVA. Hope this helps.
dragonrouge
The guy in our village charges 37 euros per hour especially when he really has difficulty in estimating cutting into walls and the like. For more normal issues he gives us a devis.
Nick Trollope
All the electricians I know (self included) charge by the job, on a devis (a fixed-price quote, not an estimate). If I charge by the hour (some jobs warrant it), then I charge 37€ HT. That doesn't help much, does it?Get a couple of devis - they shouldn't charge you. Will answer your question exactly! Fi
We were charged 30 euros/hour by a recommended (by the immobilier) electrican who had to repair damage done by our predecessors. There was no power in 2 of the 3 apartments when we arrived. We found out after the event that the builder had walked off the job of the attic conversion, and left a few "presents", which we had to deal with! All cables to the fuse box cut, gaines installed but no cables in them, and some other deeply weird stuff. Many gallic shrugs from the electrician at the time and "bizarre" muttered at regular intervals. All working now though[:)]Fi
just john
We've just had a quote for wiring a 2-bed gite barn conversion @ e5000, (though we were advised it was not to conseuil standard, ie not telephone and TV points everywhere, that would be an additional e2000!) we are now waiting for a second devi from another.[8-|]
Clarkkent
I have received a devis for rewiring a two-bedroom house to current standards. It is close to €7000. Since it is not a new build, does it have to have a telephone point in every room? What is the point of this with multi instrument wireless telephones now the norm? La Guerriere
If the electrical system has been disconnected you will need a CONSUEL certificate for EDF to reconnect, and you will need all the stupid telephone / tv points etc. If the electrcity is still connected you can get away with just doing the electrical system only. Clarkkent
Thanks Jim - it's just very old wiring being replaced, so I can tell the electrician I don't want them.
Joffan
Most artisans, electricians and plumbers charge around 35 euros per hour, if they are working legally they need at least this much to break even and perhaps turn a small profit. just john
we are now waiting for a second devi from another.[8-|]
Now have our second quote[:-))] €8400!! including 22 Prise de courant at €67 each (this includes the wiring I believe.)I asked a learned French Friend his advice, his opinion was that the 7k was not to be trusted with a gallic shake of the wrist, whereas everyone uses the 8.4k and he calls out with no charge and fixes everything for free after.[Www] I'm struggling to come terms with this, having had a bigger place in the UK rewired for half that amount. Anton Redman
Not all together surprised given large number of items which need seperate feeds and unique disjointer under the NFs. Have a look at a French down to a price plein pied at a builders open day.
