Income ideas from newbie?

I work as a business advisor working in international tax - and our rule of thumb is 'avoid, at all costs, being deemed to have a business in France'.  Aside from, say, Russia, China or India it is one of the most bureaucratic jurisdictions to operate in.   It is also one of the most expensive.

Couldn't agree more. There is no incentive to make a profit in France because you can't qualify for help in other areas if you do such as bourses,CAF aide etc yet if you make even a tiny profit of a few hundred euros in one year, your RSI charges go up by hundreds of euros each quarter and if you refuse or can't pay, they take it anyway without permission or you get the huissier round to take payments or worse plus they add interest on everything here that is late in being paid. If you are earning good money now, stay there and save to retired here later on because you are on your own here with no benefits or help unless you have paid into the system for some time first and pension andhealth contributions are mandatory for all workers regardless of status. However, I can see why people like us do it and that is because we have perhaps not a better quality of life here in materials terms but far better family quality time and health care.
