allensofalton
We need a new roof and our builder has recommended fibro tiles instead of slate. We have seen the type he suggests and they look good, does anyone know how good they really are and have any indication of how long they will last? Vignobles
We live in Normandy. Our gable end wall faces the Atlantic. We were offered fibrous as against conventional slate. I visited certain houses that had fibrous and conventional slate. In the end we went conventional slate. Slightly more expensive, but certainly a better job. Fibrous tend to be in the larger format, slates in the smaller format. That is where some of the extra costs come in.However, I would really not touch fibrous, but that is a personal opinion.........after all it is not my capital that is being expended?rdgs
val2
We do a lot of roofing work and prefer only to work in conventional slates. My husband says the fibro ones look OK for a short while then begin to decline. Plus the costs too when you need every penny for renovations.
