Beryl
Have only bought off plan in France before and not sold, so need some advice having read about some of the problems that sellers have had on here.Once we have found a buyer, can we stipulate anywhere that the sale must go through within a set time period?I remember when we bought our property it was us making all the conditions rather than the seller. But I don't want to be in the predicament where we have committed to sell but then get messed around by the buyer delaying the completion for a long period. Thanks
Will
You can ask for whatever conditions you like to be included in the compromis de vente, as can the purchaser. But these have to be agreed by all parties involved, including the notaire, so there is no guarantee you will get the conditions you require. For instance, if you specify completion within six weeks it is unlikely the notaire will agree to include that, because of the ever-growing list of bureaucratic requirements. The buyer would have to agree too.
Beryl
Thank you Will; When I do get a buyer, I will give them a reasonable amount of time, but didn't want to leave it open ended.
