Morse98
Hi,We have sold our property and we are due to sign the Acte Authentique before 10th Sept, just waiting for SAFER. Can anyone tell me when will the Notaire release the funds to us and how?Would be helpful to know as we are currently looking for somewhere else to buy, will initially have to rent as we were not prepared. Didn't expect it to sell so quickly it only took 3weeks which obviously is great but has meant a lot of panic.Thanksflossie

In our case a notaires cheque was issued. We then paid that into our bank.
Will
There is no reason why the money should not be released to you immediately, certainly within 24 hours. Possible exceptions may be where a mortgage has to be paid off, or capital gains tax has to be deducted, but the notaire should have all this worked out in advance.Unfortunately many notaires are slow, inefficient, or just like hanging on to clients' money so they can get the interest. So do make sure you ask for the proceeds to be released as quickly as possible, and get the notaire's agreement to do this, preferably in writing. We certainly know what you mean about Notaires being slow and keeping money so they can get the interest. When we bought this place the Notaires fees were cheaper than first estimated however it took them 6ths to reimburse us.RegardsFlossie
Nick Trollope
You should be able to walk away with a cheque at the signing. Just ask the Notaire in advance. Refunds of fees are different and is more about the time taken to process the paperwork. Ish...
