Frogslegs
In the u.k. I believe we use hogging to raise the floor level before concreting! What material do the french use? I have been told that grade 006 sable is used! Is this so.
Chippiepat
Depends how much you have to raise it by? If you are just talking about a sub base 100mm--150mm then any good clean well broken & compacted hardcore will suffice, blinded with sand & laid over with d.p.m. before concreting. If you have a local quarry near you they do what is the equivalent of english type one,( sort of scalpings )ideal & only about 8-9e a ton.If you are talking about raising the floor 18" or more you may be better with a precast concrete beam & block construction or suspended timber floor.
