3 acre field

Recommended Posts

We are hoping to buy a property which includes a 3 acre field.  We do not necessarily need the field.  Does anyone know what we can do with the field or whether it would be worth trying to sell it?  Or would it be better to hang onto the field.  Would it appreciate in value?

Hi Cherry,  Land isn't that valuable, but if you sell it you will never get it back. 3 acres isn't very much to hang on to and doesn't require that much looking after unless you are only going to be there a few weeks of the year.

You don't say where in France it is, or what it is currently, or has been used for.

As another person said land of that size is not very valuable on its own, but is usually a good selling point if and when you come to dispose of your property in the future.

Whatever you do, do not take any monies or gifts in kind for the use of it by anyone as this then entitles the user to hang on to it for something like 11 years!  We have about 4/5 acres which an English friend close by uses for hay and to put her horses on.  This is all done without any payment for its use.  It suits us and it suits her which is great.

You never know one day you or someone in your family may wish to keep a horse, goats etc!
