dandaz
HiI need some large [I mean large]beams for my roof support...The beams already there are two tree trunks bolted together.... I`m guessing this is going to be my main expence with re-building the roof... Anyone got a idea of how much 10 100ft tree trunks are going to set me back...? Maybe I could sneak in the local wood with my chainsaw....
Val_2
Try your local Scierie for the cheapest timbers. Ours delivers with his Hiab and lifts into place for us where access is a problem for delivery. Expect to have to wait though,we've been currently waiting since beg.June for one particular delivery of oak beams and the trees still havn't arrived at the mill from the wood. Stephenlemmon
What kind of wood do you want and where abouts are you? Also what diameter? I might know someone who can help. Stephen

Stephenlemmon
Hey Mick, My guy is in Normandy, so any price advantage you'd get would be eaten up by the transport. He manages to get some amazing oak logs though. If I know woodcutters, and I don't really come to think of it, then cash speaks louder than words... And the type of wood is really quite important, I believe, for longevity, parasite resistance, and especially cost. I've got a chippy starting on my roof timbers in a couple of weeks (also 17). I'll ask him if he knows anywhere to get it. All the best. Stephen.
