cardiffonion
Moving to Chatellerault (Vienne), France to work. Wife would like to run a small Gite business. We are not sure which area to go for that would be attractive to tourists. It would have to be within commuting distance of Chatellerault. Ideally placed for activities for young and old coupled with an idyllic setting. Any suggestions welcome.[:$]
Sunday Driver
Just north of you, the Loire Valley (Saumur, Chinon, Tours) is a big touristy area popular with all nationalities.
cardiffonion
Thanks S Driver.I spent Friday through last Monday looking, West / South West - Parthenay, Beaumant, Lencloitre, even L'Absie. i.e. looking in the wrong place for what we want to do. There were some touristy things going on and the countryside was ok but it didn't feel right. Property prices were reasonable enough but I assume the places you mention will attract a higher price - which is fair enough.
Mark
You're probably well aware of this anyway, but the places SD mentions, and their surrounding areas, are home to world-renowned honeypot attractions, so you should be able to drag in no end of American and Japanese cash cows if you pitch your business right.
