Shower Thermostats

Quillan

Recommended Posts

Brico Depot is doing a very good offer on a Hydro shower at present, 299€ each and they are quite well built with glass doors.

The only problem for me is that they do not have a theromostat. I would like to adapt the cubical to take one. The only way I can think of doing it is to buy a flush mount thermostat. I have seen them in the UK in the form of a plate with a on/off knob and the thermostat either above or below.

Any ideas where I can get one as all the plumbers I have visited only appear to have the surface mounting ones (cylinder thing with temp controller one end and on/off the other). The other problem I have is explaining what I want so perhaps somebody can tell me what they are called in French.

Many thanks in advance.

Have you tried Monsieur Albas? His show-room and warehouse is on the corner 'opposite' the furniture shop, on the last bend that takes you out of Quillon towards Champion. He is one of the most obiging tradesmen I have come across. Can't believe he hasn't got it or wouldn't get it.

Chris,

Our trade supplier, Wendel SA in Villeneuve has a Hansgrohe corps d'encastrement pour mitigeur douche for 82,40 Euros. There are then various chrome trim plates to fit on the front.

Wendel are part of a national buying group:

www.gapsa.fr

The site will have details of a supplier in your area.

Kind regards,

Bob Clarke

Hi Bob,

Went to try and get one yesterday. Used the link you gave me and found an outlet in Carcassonne, I even took along a hard copy with the French description. What he produced was what I would call a surface mount job, long tube thing with on/off at one end and temp setting at the other. I did a drawing showing the plate with the on/off and thermostate which he understood but said he didn't have them. I asked if I could order one and he said know but sent me to a guy a few doors up.

We had a look through his catalog and I found what I wanted and asked him to show me the cheapest which worked out at around €400 plus. Now I see you can get them from B&B for around £116 so I think this price is a bit steep. So if you can get one up your end for €80 odd can you email me offline and perhaps I can send you a cheque and you can get one and send it on.

Many thanks for your help by the way.

Shore as in sea showers or sure as i meant to say.You can buy ballafix/checkvalves at any builders merchants and they should be fitted in an accessible postion so the shower can be serviced without haveing to drain the whole house etc.

Chris,

I have put in the post to you photocopies of the relevant pages from my Wendel trade catalogue.

These show all the component parts for built-in thermostatic mixers. Also a page from the consumer catalogue showing the make-up of the components into a system.

If you go to the Hansgrohe website www.hansgrohe.com and do Search / Product Search then enter the code to the left of the price on the Wendel pages it will give you full information on each component including technical notes in .pdf format.

Without knowing more details of the fittings supplied with your unit it is difficult to advise further.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Kind regards,

Bob Clarke
