Tim_Quincaillerie
I have a cement sand floor that needs to be tiled it is very dusty with sand and will be using a diluted PVA mix of 4:1 is this ok and then will be using a self levelling compound in preperation for the tiles.Whats the equivalent to PVA in France and is the raggreage ( self levelling compound )here easy to use. Thanks
Millymollymandy
I don't believe PVA as you know it has yet made an appearance in France. There is something vaguely similar used for glueing "toile de verre" wallpaper, but if you use it under paint, it shows through the paint! If anyone has found PVA here, I'd be happy to know about it.As to the self-levelling compound, it doesn't! Level that is! And it is extremely difficult to use. We ended up with a bathroom floor which was very wavy.
Liz
AFAIK PVA is disguised as wood glue, often called something like 'colle pour parquet'. Brico Depot have it in large containers. It looks like PVA, it smells like PVA and it works the same as ... So far as ragreage is concerned we used it in a small area (about 2m x 2m) and it worked pretty well although it is difficult to get the bubbles out and temperature is critical, too warm and it goes off too quickly.Liz (29)
