Andyphilpott
I have a holiday home in the Var and to save the mad dash when we leave and to help out friends and family who use the house I am considering looking for locals to clean the house, do washing, manage any small jobs of maintenance and gardening and all those little jobs which make life easier. It also adds a little to the local economy!Do casual workers who provide such services need to have any registration which I would need to see?I have no idea at all how much this might cost though, so does anyone have any guidance?I appreciate that rates will vary across France as in the UK so focus on the South would be particularly helpful.Andy Philpott
Richardk
Hi andy - we use a registered company for a house we rent out in the Pyrenees Orientales and pay 30 euros for the first hour and then 25 thereafter. A changeover including laundry of linen and towels for a 3 bed. c 110sqm village house costs around 115 euros a go.
Lori
We are in the Vaucluse, not too far from the Var and the going rate is around 15 euros per hour for housekeeping and normal gardening (mowing, etc.). You may find the prices higher if you use a specialised company. If you use a private individual, you can check with your bank about using the Check d' Emploi system (can't remember if that is the exact name). I'm sure someone on the forum can advise on that.
