Mutiara
Hi our french plumber has built us a shower cubicle from "carreau de platre hydrofuge", which are basically building blocks of plaster. We have found that paint doesn't like the exterior of these very much probably because these blocks are the green moisture proof type. However, I am more concerned about the tiling of the interior surface of the shower. Can I use a proprietory tile adhesive directly onto the carreau de platre or is there a special primer that i should be using first? Any help much appreciated,Mutiara
Mpprh
Hithere are waterproof resins you can use to paint the surface.I used one called Silkex.I also used it, well diluted to mix the tile cement and the grout.Instructions are on the bottle. All seems OK after 5 years usePeter
Bobc
For tiling onto carreaux de platre there are various solutions depending on the type of tiles:All products from Weber et Broutin www.weber-broutin.frFermacol ProFermasec + Fermagres PlusFermafix PlusAvailable from any decent professional tiling supplier - show them the tiles that you want to use and what you want to tile onto.Joint with Weber et Broutin Fermajoint or Ferma Joincolor.Certainly no need to be diluting adhesive or joint with anything. If you need more advice then please e-mail at the address in my profile.Regards,Bob Clarkehttp://perso.wanadoo.fr/grindoux

For a wooden floor, we use cermafim primer, cermacryl, with a bande d'armature, and then as a colle, ceramflex or cermiplus, followed by joints with cermajoint souple, having first consolidated and prepared the substrate as has been mentioned.Their website has a very handy solution finder and practical info and is worth a look. I beleive there is also an English laguage option which I havn't triedPaul

W & B and Lanko are fairly expensive.Kind regards,Bob Clarkehttp://perso.wanadoo.fr/grindoux
