zeb
Hi - we are installing a woodburner in the barn/sitting room and fixing a matt black flue pipe up the internal wall (7mtrs) to the roof to benefit from maximum heat output as it's a very large space.I understand that ready made chimneys (I don't mean french fireplaces but the external chimney) are available at builders' merchants (although I haven't seen one) but how do you fix this to the roof so that it's asthetically pleasing inside? My neighbour was talking about constructing a framework of angle-iron cemented into the wall for the chimney to sit on. Would this be sufficient? and then hiding it all with fireproof plasterboard between the joists for the flue pipe to run through to the chimney?Has anyone done it? Mysfloss
Make it out of wood and slate it,the top is made out of zinc. There is a regulation distance for the wood from the flue which I think is 20 cms you would need to check that.
