Lyndap
HiCan anyone tell me if once planning permission has been received, do you receive a visit from a building inspector? i.e to check footings etc. Many thanksLynda
Val_2
No. do not exist in France. If new build propery then the architect/mâitre d'oeuvre do the inspections throughout. This is not the UK where building practices are concerned. For a simple extension without the required architect, then you have to trust your builder I'm afraid. Mysfloss
Building inspectors do exist in France, but on domestic projects you won't see them,All buildings that are built for public use are inspected regularly this includes public housing
Val_2
My reply was directed towards domestic projects not public. The crap lotissement next to us was never inspected either and has had many serious faults come to light since and that is from someone who worked on it. Mysfloss
I am replying to the statement that there are no inspectors in France.A generalisation which often leads or misleads people into believing that anything goes.Isn't it amazing the quantity of people who come out of the woodwork when something goes wrong on a site, after the event of course.
