Renovating a 'ramonetage'..

....but can anyone shed some light on what a ramonetage actually is/was? I believe it used to be used as workers accomodation in the days when wine was produced here, but more than that I really don't know. So for now when people ask, we just say we're renovating an apartment which of course it is, but it would be good to know what's it's official name actually means?

Can anyone help explain?
