griffs
I am currently in the process of obtaining devis for installing a fosse septique for a cottage renovation in the Charente. Can anyone tell me what rate of TVA I should be paying. One devis quotes 5.5% the other 19.6%. I had a word with the clerk at the local marie who said that if the work was within or on the house, it would be 5.5%, but as it's not the house as such I have to pay 19.6%. Seems pretty daft to me as the fosse is considered an essential as there is no main sewer system in the village. Can anyone shed any light on this for me. BJSLIV
If the work relates to a cottage that is over 2 years old then it should be at the lower rate.If it is a complete new conversion of, say, a barn to residential use things might be a bit more complicated..... LesLauriers
"If the work relates to a cottage that is over 2 years old then it should be at the lower rate"Is it not the case that refurbisment or renewal of an existing fosse is taxed at 5.5% and that a first time installation is at 19.6%.I recently renewed an existing terrace and paid 5.5% on the work, however a new terrace by the same builder was rated at 19.6%.
