Anton Redman
Some UK light fittings have a smaller hole/ring which is why IKEA in UK sell special washers to allow their shades ( which have bigger holes) to fit UK bases. The solution is to bring some cable light fittings from UK if you are sentimentally attached to you shades. Alexis
Do you mean shades that are fastened in between two bit of metal on the bulb holder? They should be fine.If it is anything to do with ceiling roses, France doesn't have them. Before you all start crying "Oh yes they do," not around here they don't. Just a flex dangling attractively from the ceiling hole. This can be covered by an upside down egg cup shape plastic "thing" if you are posh. Ron Avery
"will my English light shades fit ??" Simple answer is NOIf you want to use UK lamp shades you must bring a UK bulb fitting/fixing for each one, you just connect the two wires as normal to the joint block ( OK covered by an upside down egg cup) you usually have hanging from the ceiling. The French bulb holders are too big for the UK size rings. The other way round is OK as you can get adaptor rings from IKEA
