chocccie
Does anyone have any experience of using the metal frames for stud walls - how does the cost compate with that of building a timber stud wall? Cheers
Nick Trollope
I prefer the metal (Placostil) studding, because; It is faster (if you invest 100E in the correct tools). It is "straighter" - you don't need to spend your life selecting straight pieces of timber. It must weigh 1/10th of wood.It doesn't move with changes in humidity, or over time.etcetcBelieve me, I have done plenty using both methods. Val_2
We install hundreds of meters per year of this and what Nick says is correct. With the reduced working week, artisans prefer the easy method so they get more done and don't have to fiddle about measuring and levelling etc with wood and the weight too plays a great part. It is imperative that you have the correct tools to do this, ordinary screwdrivers are not recommended.
