Abbaye
I believe we will need to increase the power supply to our property as we are setting up a workshop with some heavy duty machines in it.At present we are on Tempo supply ... any idea what we need to do? Is it just a case of ringing up EDF and telling them we need more power? I doubt it!Thanks.Mandy
Lizzie15
That is exactly what I did!! Some people's experience is that EDF send someone out to have a look but that didn't happen to me.I rang-they came, fiddled with my box,and voila! BJSLIV
It all depends on how much of an increase and where you fit into the local network. If you are already on Tempo and are going to need a hefty supply you will probably be needing three phase which will be more than a simple phone call. Iceni
It also depends where you live - our max input from EDF is 6 KW. 9 KW is normal nearer to the town - you may simply not be able to get what you want. Go to EDF and get them to check it on their system.I think I would now add this to checking out any house/building you want to buy. I gather that this is not as uncommon as we first thought. We also trip out less than friends with much higher supplies - the reason, we don't use a UK electric kettle.Best of luck. Lori
We renovated, adding a lot of extra power needs, called EDF, they came out and upgraded our power to the house in 10 minutes. Was really simple, just a bit more expensive, monthly.
French Novice
Our experience was similar. When I used anything more than one light or god forbid tried to boil a kettle the whole house would plunge into darkness. I called EDF they arrived and changed one dial and left. It took them about 2 minutes and although we pay slightly more at least I can use it!
