Choochoo
Hi everybody,I seem to remember somebody mentioning there is a tool hire shop in Sourdeval. Can anybody tell me how to find it (coming from Mortain) and if they are likely to have a floor sander.Anybody used one, are they any good ? The floor concerned has a lot of boards in a U shape, do you think the sander will flatten the whole thing out. I would rather not rip it all up and put down chipboard.Thanks.John
Deimos
No idea about your area but a nationwide company hires out floor sanders (as well as other things). Company is called KiLouTou and their web site www.kiloutou.fr shows where they have hire centres (with maps, opening hours, etc.). Not the cheapest but very convenient in my case (also, the day hire is to the time you took the equipment e.g. 3pm to 3pm rather than day or part day) – though only a little more expensive that prices quoted by somebody else so not excessive. For floor sanding they do all 3 types (drum sander, edge radial sander or larger radial sanders (if that is what you need).Ian
Anton Redman
If the floor is old oak and the boards are suffciently thick you may be able to sand them flat. I used an electric plane on the worst ridges before sanding but only did enough to remove the ridges you could trip over.
