hellsbells
We have 2 wooden floors that have been covered in a slurry of what looks like concrete. A lot of it is cracked & just sweeps off. Some of it is rivited to the boards. We were hoping just of clean off & then lime wash & lay some rugs. Any suggestions how we get the surface clean ? Emma and David
Emma and David

Montaigu
We have had exactly the same situation, it is self-leveling concrete you've got there, was used to make slightly bumpy floorboards flat. The only way to get itoff is to use a hammer and bang it so it cracks and then you can sweep it.Although we have been playing with the idea of taking up all floorboards carefully and turning them over...don't want any to split though.Good luckEmma
hellsbells
Thanks Emma have tried this for hours but unfortunately bits of it still refuse to budge. Also in the process can hack bits out of the boards. The room we started on is the smallest now used as bathroom. The other is big bedroom full length of the house. I think we will just cover all up with click together boards. Such a shame as in our main home all the boards are polished but they had been well proctected prior to. cheers Hellsbells
Iceni
We had this on a 40 x 22 foot area - and the concrete was reinforced with wire. Lifted the concrete, took one look at the boards and lifted them too - thankfully as some of the beams that could not be seen from the sous-sol were totally rotten. Have (well the guys have - not me personally of course :hehe covered the repaired and replaced beams with levelers and boarding, now putting down insulation and a beautiful chestnut floor - the oak boards which no-one would touch had more nails, and metal than wood in places so we have a nice huge pile of oak to burn during the winter - already burnt most of the rotten beams. Our property is a barn and so the lack of walls in this area makes it so much easier. We would now lift concrete on boards automatically - having seen the hidden damage underneath but if is just a small room, not a problem really. All the best.
