Teamedup
Most insurance companies insist on shutters or bars at the windows. Shutters come in many styles and products, UPVC, metal and woods of varying catagories. So prices do vary. Also there may be restrictions on what your shutters should be made of, colour etc depending on where you live. Your Mairie will be able to tell you this. Armed with this info try Lapeyre.fr and you can check prices on there. Also windows in France usually are built against the internal walls, so it is quite usual to have no internal window sills. The window sills are external and that is what the shutters go against. Friends with a very old house have small internal window sills but still have big external ones.
