Architects! protocol for changing of.........

Hello all

Having spent just over a year planning a renovation/extension with a local architect the building work has just begun.  However........we are running into problems, we still cannot sign Devis for some of the later work because the architect has not laid down the correct specifications to the artisans (e.g. despite our discussions with the architect we are continually being presented Devis for work in the wrong type of wood.....we return the Devis, etc etc).  Being charitable to the guy we suspect there may be a language problem, despite the fact that my wife speaks reasonable French and we have tried pictures, sketches and French websites to illustrate matters as well as words!  We like his ideas and plans (once they've been corrected) but we have to continually nitpick to get changes done and it's getting like wading through treacle, frequent endless meetings, giving him endless notes in French often as not produce little action.  Now this may be the norm - we don't know, but we do know that life is too short to be continually spent in two hour meetings that only result in 5 minutes worth of action

We now know of an English speaking French Architect in the area.  The following idea is heresy I know but could we pay what is due to our original Architect and get the English speaking chap to pick up the work from the original plans?

Regards

Stefan, off to a 2 hour meeting - Merry Christmas.
