heidi h
The crazy paving (nice) on our terrace has started cracking and breaking up in places. Does anyone know WHY? Is it due to the cold? (what cold?) or just because it is old or are we all too heavy?. Can it be repaired by just replacing the cracked pieces or does the whole lot need to be ripped up? Any ideas? Val_2
Depends on its age too. Dosn't last forever if the cement etc was rubbish or the workmanship shoddy. If you are that worried, then get it up and relay perhaps with some more modern and harder wearing exterior tiles(dalles) and there are some beauties about now. BIG MAC
Hi possibly due to clay shrinkage in the soils beneath caused by dry weather/shrinkable clays or moisture extrction by vegetation, another culprit may be leaking drains- washing out fines from the underlying soils.....or poor build quality to begin with.Decent paving laid to well compacted sub base will pretty much last a lifetime
