Gunner
Not sure if this is a stupid question or not but someone has told me that you don't need to have heat resistant glass in our 7kw woodburner, as it is 634 euros per sq metre at our local Bricomarche I thought it was worth asking. Can anyone help with this question or know of anywhere else to get this glass cheaper ?
Mikew
A piece for a friend's woodburner cost 70€ at the local quincaillerie, ordered to size required, fitted with new insulating string and fire cement. I would not suggest using anything but the correct item.
thunderhorse
I believe heat resistant also means shatter resistant, which ordinary glass certainly isn't. New woodburners are supplied with the correct glass, so... [:)]But there'll be experts on here to give you a more authoritative answer.
Anton Redman
If you know the make of the wood burner you should be able to buy the glass as a spare part. At the price quoted it may be worth a trip round a few local dealers also assuming glass is say 40cms by 25 cms the price moves down to reasonable assuming the quinquilery charge by area. Craig
Where are you gunner, my wife smashed ours a few weeks ago whilst I was at work in the UK and she got a new pice of glass cut while she waited somewhere in Limoges. I can ask where it was if it is close enough to you. It was expensive I thought at 130 euros but not as expensive as you were quoted. From what she mantioned of the place it was just a large glazing company.CheersCraig
