Alcazar
1) do you need to apply to repaint the outside of your house Not unless it's in a conservation zone, and/or you want to go to an unusual colour. Your local mairie will advise on colours that are acceptable.2) the house has 2 septic tanks ?? who do you call to have them checked/emptySorry, don't remember the French for this, your neighbours or the mairie will know who to call.3) House is twostory but oneside has a 6mt by 3mt garage attached so would i need planning permissionfor to build ontop of garage (ie read that extension less than 20mt2 no permission needed)If it changes the appearance of the house, probably yes, again, ask at the mairie.4) Do i need permission to roughcast some outer walls that look like they have been put up with roughcastin mind (ie all the joints have been raked out)See above.4) Can i divert grey water for garden supply Sorry, I don't know the answer to this at all.......your mairie might though. As you can see, having had our property for 4 years now, we are GREAT believers in doing it RIGHT, and getting it in writing. Then it can't come back to bite you later. Hope this is of some help,Alcazar
La Guerriere
I think that the fosse septique may need the grey water to work properly. If it just receives black waste it might bung up quicker than normal. However this is black art and needs a specialist.
Teamedup
La Guerriere, we have never had any grey water what so ever that has gone into our fosse septique.

These are designed to take all outpourings from theproperties that they are associated with and cannot function properlywithout the grey water that accompanies the "hot" waste. The other two are far older, and far simpler in design. They date froman era when people simply didn't use anything like the quantity ofwater for washing and laundry that they do today. While fosses likethis are often capable of handling grey water flows, they were expectedto work with the water coming from the loo only. It should be possibleto divert grey water from a fosse like this to the garden.Have a bit of a poke around (if you have not already done so) to findout all that you can about your system, then consider bunging a few souin the direction of a local plumber to get his / her thoughts on thematter.Good luck! Teamedup
Our grey water has always had to go straight into the main drains and never the fosse. The overflow water from the fosse, what ever that is called, also goes directly into the main drains. When we bought the fosse I can't remember us having to get a special one.
