Bannon
Now that I have finally got round to making a start on the main part of our building, I find that I've got quite a dose of woodworm on the beams. No real problem I suppose as I've stripped the floor out and all are now exposed for spraying. But, do I hack off the bad bits before spraying and/or is there some treatment needed to 'stabilise' the rotten bits. I have started to chip away at some of it with a small axe but it really is a laborious and arm aching job. Thanks guys.
andyh4
Sounds as if you are being a bit excessive if you are using an axe. Remove anything that is soft enough to not withstand being proded with a screw driver. Anything else can be left and sprayed
Bannon
Well yes, it does sound excessive but not that drastic honest. It's just that a small sharp axe seemed the easiest way to chip off the rotten bits having already tried various implements. I just wondered if there was an easier way. I do have half a dozen oak beams taken out from other parts of the house so I might just drop out the infected ones that look to bad and replace em.
