Joric
Hot water by electric---problems ----do I have to replace the ballon complete or can you replace the element seperately-I only ask because it is semi boxed in and would be easier if I did not have to replace the whole thingThanks to whoever answers Richard
BJSLIV
Yes you can replace the element, as long as the tank itself isn't corroded. If you are lucky it will have an element blindee, in its own separate compartment in the tank. If this is the case you don't have to drain down the whole system. If you are even luckier it will be a well known make of tank with standard fittings. If you are unlucky it will be some cheap and nasty thing from Bricobloggs which has a corroded element, of a non-standard type, which takes ages to extract , and for which which nobody stocks a replacement.
