mint
we are about to complete on the purchase of a renovated barn in the charente maritime departement. we have to get permission to construct a fosse.we have duly applied to the mairie and paid the syndicat des eaux bill of 178 euros. we have now been given a date for the man from the syndicat to look at our sitehowever the vendors tell us that we can sign the acte de vente without waiting for the visit as the visit is just a "formality" and that permission is "tacit"we are unhappy with this and want permission in writing. we are unsure whether the visit does imply that permission will be granted or whether it's to determine whether to grant permissionhas anyone any knowledge of this matter?we wish to hold out until after the visit of the sanitary man but we will be putting the vendors and others to a lot of trouble if we did soany comments? If it wasn't then it should have been!Don't do anything the Vendors say without consulting the Notaire first - he is impartial (or should be) and the advice shouldn't cost (any more!). tj
HiI am at present trying to solve the technical problems of a new fosse installation, rather than permissions for it.However, the agent has led me to believe that permission is obligatory, in that they have to grant permission for the installation as long as space is available? Since the dwellings current "hole in the ground type" does not conform. And for example, if an inspection was to be done the area is currently concrete and tarmac, so it would be interesting to see what inspection or tests they could carry out.any comments appreciated
southwestgersdee
HiyaJust done all this ourselves, and after 2 weeks of backbreaking work we have our very own fosse complete with working toilet! We had to apply to the Marie for the declaration de traveaux, but the plans had to go to the syndicat Des Eaux first, and for them to visually approve them before they went to the marie, who then duly sent them to the S D E again for approval! We had no appointment for them to come down during all this, it was all done on the basis of our plan drawings. We then got the form back with approved stamped on it, and a few recomendations to our system from the S D E. We then had to notify the S D E 1 week before work commenced, and she had to come down and inspect what we were looking at doing. She has since been down in the last 2 weeks a further 3 'surprise' times to see what stage we were at, and has now said she is happy with our works, but she has to provide a report with all the photo's she's taken of the stages.......jees more paperwork...and thats about all I know...Dee
