We are renovating a barn which does not have an existing electrical supply. EDF have installed a new coffret at the boundary of the land with the barn with a electronic meter in it and a Disjount.Diff. but its not 'live'.

How do we get a temporary electrical supply to the barn whilst working on it? (Tableau Chantier) The electrical installation is being carried out by an english electrician to french standards but there are questions we need to ask. When a full supply is connected do EDF install another Disjount.Diff in the barn or does the supply go straight to the new Tableau? We understand we have to dig a trench and lay a gaine for the cable from the new EDF coffret to the barn but who supplies the cable to go in it? We also understand that the Consuel will only test a completed installation. We intend completing the gound floor to live in it and do upstairs later but we will need more than a temporary supply for power and heating. Has anyone else had this problem? Sorry there are so many questions!

EDF should make the supply live, if you ask - there are time limits (normally 1 year) for temporary supplies.

When you want a permament supply, EDF will probably move the meter & DD to wherever you want them to, or if the coffret is suitable for a permanent supply, then they may well leave it there. Ask them.

It is your electricians responsibility to run the supply from the EDF point to the`tableau.

The Consuel won't sign off on an incomplete system. You will need to persuade them that the upstairs is for future renovation - I would reccommend that you install nothing upstairs (but allow provision in the tableau) until after you have the C-f-C from the CONSUEL.
