alnmike
Firstly - to replace an existing electric oven - does the installation have to be done by a qualified electrician in France? Second - have got some great info from search on French supplier ofovens, and prices seem good and also easier for any guarantee issues -but - is it permissable to connect a UK cooker, if one has one kickingaround? Thanks.
La Guerriere
Replacing oven is allowed, but you should have a 32A outlet and a dedicated feed back to the board.A cooker is a cooker is a cooker, again should be OK, voltage and power requirenets are similar. Anton Redman
I have seen three phase ovens in old French Farm houses. Give away is three round pin plus oblong earth pin plug. Brico Depot still stock 3 Pin plus Terre Prise and Fiche rated at 20 amps which I believe ( and stand ready to be corrected) are three phase32 amp needs 6mm cross section wiring as opposed to 2.5 mm to a nomal socket. and will supply 6.7 kilowatts at 220 volts. 20 amp at 220 = 4.4 kilowatts. Have a look at you cooker to check what ratting you need
La Guerriere
Agreed. I just had to buy 30 metres of 6mm2 stuff (that cost!) due to the kitchen being one end of the longere and the tableau being at the other - and with thick walls I had to go up'n'over.
