bunny
Can anyone give us advice regarding getting connected with utilities such as electric, water and septic tank installation? I keep putting off telephoning Edf as I'm not confident speaking french on the phone and am not sure who to contact re other utilities. I gather that there are companies who will do this for you. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Cassis
You could start here http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/723857/ShowPost.aspxShould sort you out on the phone, at least. Why not ask the agent who sold the house to earn his money for the water and leccy?Fosse septique? Not a utility - what's your current plumbing situation? Have you no fosse or mains drainage? Jc
Both EDF and your water co. will have local offices that you can visit in person;I visited mine in the past when I first wanted to set up supplies and they were outstandingly helpful(my fractured French & their fractured English sufficed). Wozza
I'm sure that I have seen a number for EDF in the English Press that is specifically for Brits. Try getting a copy of French News or Connexion at your local newsagent, if you are in France. The best idea is to get your agent to do it, though - that's what you paid them for. Rob Roy
I agree with Cassis and Wozza - our agent organised the change of name and reconnection of water and electric for us.
