Aitch
I am trying to get a translation for '40mm foil backed thermal insulation'.My french/ english builders dictionary says 'isolation thermique'. Is this the same as that above? I need to be precise so I can tell my builder what I want. Thanks,Aitch
Cassis
"Isolation thermique" is just thermal insulation. I've looked in the Brico Depot catalogue and they have nothing corresponding to what you describe - all the "foil" insulation is on rolls and varies in thickness up to a maximum 27mm. There is a special one for chimneys and cooker hoods that is a solid panel 30mm thick with a foil back but I don't think that's what you mean. If it is, the Brico Depot product is called a "Panneau Ursa Flamme".The foil stuff on a roll 20mm thick equates to 200mm of standard fibreglass/rockwool insulation. A roll of foil insulation is called 'un rouleau d'isolant thermocouches' in the Brico Depot catalogue, comes with 10 year guarantee.
