Aitch
I will shortly be replacing the existing stop-gap electric water heater (10ltrs) and would like to determine the size of the new one. There would be usually be 3 people staying at the house, sometimes 4, and to cater for showers and washing machine + normal usage etc, is there any guide for capacity? I am thinking perhaps 150 to 200 cu.lts might be sufficient but any other guidelines. Electrics/ fuses/ circuit breakers etc. are already in place to cater for the larger size. Thanks Aitch
Benjamin
We live in a modern three bedroom bungalow capable of sleeping six people. The hot water storage is 300 litres which I believe is fairly normal for this size of property.A bit of an overkill for two people?....yes, but it's always nice to know when you do have visitors you're unlikely to run out of hot water.Don't worry about the cost of maintaining the heat of such a volume of water as French hot water storage tanks are very well insulated.I may be wrong but I think all maching washings in France are cold fill only.Benjamin
Val_2
We usually fit 200litre tanks for all our clients, this is sufficient for daily use for four people and if you need to have more, just put the heater on for a few hours especially in summer with visitors taking baths etc.
Cassis
We have a 200l tank for us and one guest room, a 300l tank for 2 other guest rooms. Probably overkill, though.
La Guerriere
I think you'll also find that the 200-litre "standard" size is the cheapest to buy. Non-standard sizes tend to be more expensive. Watch for promos.
