Polycarpe
I'm planning to build a stone-walled outbuilding to use as storage and a workshop (non-commercial). Does anyone know the maximum area a shed can be BEFORE you need planning permission? Are there other criteria that might apply, e.g. whether the building has electricity?I'd be grateful for any useful pointers.Thanks.
Coco
I was under the impression that any structure deemed as permanent was subject to planning permission, ie, with a concrete base. I don't know whether garden sheds, say, bought from the local Brico or garden centre fall into this category but if they don't they will only go up to a certain size anyway.Someone on this forum a while ago had a visit from the gendarmes for constructing a decking area which had a concrete base, without permission. Bugsy
20 square metres is the limit before planning permission is required, but you still need a 'permission to work' for that. Go to the Marie with your plans, they will advise you.
Val_2
Garden sheds upto 2m² OK, over that a Déclaration de Travaux, any other construction upto 20m² is a Déclaration de Travaux and over that upto 170m² is a full permis de construire. If ever in any doubt, enquire at the mairie and get the answer on paper as you can be made to dismantle.
