captin cook Posted February 10, 2007 Share Posted February 10, 2007 hi we have just purchased an old farm house in the lot ,the top floor of the house was used for drying tabacco . all the window opening are there but it has never had any widow frames in we would like to convert the top into bedrooms/bathroom . my question is would we need to apply for planinng permision to convert and put in windows . the house is in the country and our nearest neighbour is about 1/2 mile away . Clair Posted February 10, 2007 Share Posted February 10, 2007 If the openings are already there, no problem.If you create new openings or increase the size of the existing ones, you need permission.If you create new living space, you need permission too.Do a search on attic conversion withing this section and there'll be plenty of info...
