Lesley & Stuart
We have recently had some work carried out by builders in our home in Haute Vienne, which was completed satisfactorily. However, since completion the company has been put into liquidation. What we want to find out is if there is any organisation which help people in these circumstances, especially if we find anything wrong with the work which has been done. Our understanding is that the work is guaranted for 10 years but we do not have a "certificate" for the works carried out.
Nick Trollope
If the business is in liquidation and the liquidation was "honest", then no amount of information will be of any use to you - the company has gone and its responsibilities with it.However, all building business must have 10-year guarantee insurance, which, assuming they paid the premiums would still be valid - ask the receiver (info available from the likes of infobilan.fr) for the details. The issuing of insurance certificates isn't mandatory, for some reason.
