Date building work achieved

Has anyone come across a situation where the Impots are stating the date building work was finished even if it isn't?

Yes.  We seriously underestimated the lenght of time our building works would take.  I phoned the "Centre des Impots"and explained.  There was no problem and they extended the dates.

Yep. Same situation for us. We've had our date extended 3 times. It's not a problem - phone / write / go in and explain.

Many thanks for the that C & C.. We returned the annual reminder stating work was not complete and Impots have returned it with Maison Habitee 2004  written in huge red capital letters. I am in town next week so will call in the office. What is the time limit.

PS Have just telephoned Impots and they stated if its got a roof walls and windows the building is habitable!! Have made an appointment for next week - this should be interesting [blink]

The job is considered to be complete when it is usable for its intended purpose or when it is first used. Its doesn't need to be entirely complete, the authorities quote the absence of heating, electricity or interior decorations as being insufficient reasons to delay the completion.

Interesting that they quote a date. You haven't been using it overnight have you?

Yes the date is a mystery (perhaps the postman knows the answer). Building certainly isn't habitable and definitely haven't used it overnight.
