Nicos
the house we are buying has a lot of varnished tongue in groove pinewhich had gone very dark with age. I'm happy to beep some of it , butin the dark attic rooms it really needs to be brightened up!So- can you paint directly over varnish or will it need sanding a bit (or a lot) first? Would I have to use gloss? Will bring paint from UK as you all speak so highly of it!!
Cassis
It doesn't need to be gloss, but I would go for oil based rather than water based and sand it down lightly to key it first.
