david
Can anyone please advise the best place to buy powder or liquid dye for mortar. We are using chaux , cement and river sand. Is it the sand colour that makes all the difference or should we expect to use dye? We are looking for a muddy yellow colour (Haute Vienne S.E. of Limoges.)We neeed to point inside and out over a period of time and would like the end result to be consistant. Any advise apreciated. Clair
It usually is the colour of the sand that does it.Mr Clair did some internal repointing with yellow and white sand to get the right tone for our area.
Jackie
Bricomarche sell packets of colouring powder for mortar. I have used both yellow and white and both worked well. It is a good idea to try different amounts of colouring agent to get the depth of colour required and this should be assessed when the mortar is set and dry. I have also used the same stuff to colour resin with good results..............J
Deimos
You can get pots of the coloured dye powder in Point P (at least they have them in my local one).Ian
Chippiepat
Might be worth having a look at the colours available in "Procolite" or "Parex" these are ready mixed tyrolene type finishes ideal for pointing. The beauty is that the colour will be consistant no matter how many mixes you have to do.Pat.
