Gyn_Paul
Anybody know what a joist hanger (one of those metal strappy thingswhich you nail to one joist, upon which to fit and support another) iscalled in French ? And - more importantly - where to get them ?p
Deimos
Most of the bricos should sell them. No idea what they are called but both my local Bricomarche and Leroy Merlin(s) sell them.Ian
Pierre ZFP
They sell all shapes and sizes in Leroy Merlin and Brico Despot (sorry, Depot) and probably the other bricos at a similar price to UK. Sorry, don't know what they are called in French .

Clair
Mr Clair says they're sabots de charpente, with ailes intérieures ou extérieures, like these (for info only, not a recommendation!)
Deimos
You probably need to understand how French DIY stores are organised. I would start looking for Joist Hangers around the radish seeds or curtain rail areas.Ian

Anton Redman
The generic used by Brico Depot is 'Connecteurs de Charpente' joist hangers themselves are 'Sabot Ailes Exterieure' . In Brico Depot they are normally in the Quincaillerie area normally one aisle along from the screws. Brico Depot stock Simpson Strong Tie'In Castorama and Leroy Merlin they tend to be in the outside sections near the big section waster pipes,
